First and most important Jim starts with a body width of just 7’ 6” so when we add all the fittings like awnings, mud guards, hot water system, entry handle and all the other bits we are still under Australia’s maximum width of 8’ 2 1/2” or 2500mm. Most American trailers need some conversion when they arrive, now this can minor or can be substantial depending on who is bringing in the fifth wheeler and whether or not it has been mirror imaged so the entry door is on the left hand side. With the American fifth wheelers the width is one of the main issues. If you have an 8’ wide body and add awning, entry handle, mud guards and all other bits you will be approximately 8’ 7” wide and this is ILLEGAL here in Australia.
